<< Back to Current ProjectsArts for young people at risk of exclusion Artistic Director: George Fothergill Join the Junk Funk Company and create great sounding music from wheelie bins, rolling pins, other household items and rubbish. No ability to play a musical instrument required. Band members will also have the opportunity to take part in holiday workshops such as costume and lighting design, create their own publicity materials and learn other performance skills such as circus and street dance. The band will be performing regularly across Lowestoft and the region. The band is open to all young people in Lowestoft aged 8 - 16 years. The band currently holds weekly rehearsals at the Whitton Life Project on Thursdays after school. A second group has also started in North Lowestoft which also meets on Thursdays. Holiday workshops are open to non-band members subject to places being available. This summer an activities week including circus skills and dance will lead up to a performance at the Ipswich Carnival on 19th August. Other summer gigs include the Latitude Festival and Stowfest in Mid Suffolk. A third group has begun to rehearse weekly in Eye on Friday's and they will also be performing at some of the shows.
