Suffolk Artlink
Our history,
our future
Suffolk Artlink became an independent charity on 1st April 2006. Suffolk Artlink began life as part of the charity Optua, one of the largest charities in Suffolk, in 1994. In 2003, two staff
were appointed to revitalise Suffolk Artlink and guide it towards independent
charitable status. A third member of staff joined the organisation in
summer 2004.
What we will
do, 2006– 9
• Offer an information and advice service - Artlink Advice
• Provide training, initially for carers of older people
• Develop fun and inspiring arts projects
• Use the arts to enhance access to landscapes, buildings and heritage
• Work with arts venues to develop inclusive programming
• Become an independent charitable trust
Who do we
work with?
Over the next two years, we will work with:-
• Older people and their carers
• People with additional learning needs
• People experiencing mental ill-health
• Young people from disadvantaged areas
What art forms
do we cover?
We work in partnership with professional artists and arts organisations
to develop projects. These include visual arts and crafts, dance, drama,
music, writing and new technologies
