blueprint

For volunteers aged 16-25 with learning disabilities or who live rurally.

blueprint is a youth volunteering project which encourages groups of young people to come up with a creative project that will benefit them and their community.

blueprint 2

blueprint 2 is based in Halesworth and is currently looking for volunteers to take part in a film making project that will benifit the community.

Volunteers will have the opportunity to be involved with all aspects of the film production from the writing of the script to acting, learning how to use film equipment and the screening of the film. The showing of the film will take place in mid January 2010, at The Cut in Halesworth.

Volunteers will also have the opportunity to achieve a Bronze or Silver Arts Award through the project. The Arts Award is a nationally recognised qualification in arts practice and leadership.

While there is an approved budget, there are no prescribed outcomes. This is a refreshing and daring departure from the usual format. The participants are firmly in charge of their own project and with support from Artlink staff they are able to allocate and manage their own finances.

Suffolk Art link is part of a consortium of delivery partners including the Theatre Royal Bury St Edmunds, Creative Arts East, Seachange Arts, NR5, with The Garage, Norwich, as lead partner. Each partner will support the creation of 234 volunteering opportunities over 3 years. The project aims to engage disadvantaged or under represented groups of young people in volunteering.

blueprint is one of 152 projects across the country who have been funded by v as part of vinvolved, a new national youth volunteering programme, which aims to inspire half a million more young people to volunteer in England.

Terry Ryall, v’s Chief Executive, says “Young people are at the heart of this new programme which aims to put them at the centre of our communities. Instead of seeing them as a problem to be fixed, we are giving them the chance to become a positive force for change.”

blueprint 1

Artlink’s first blueprint project took place in Hadleigh in the autumn of 2008. It involved young adult volunteers with learning disabilities who will devised, managed and executed their own project.

The volunteers decided to perform a piece of drama that tackled the themes of bullying and friendship. It was performed in January 2009 to local school children in Ansell Community Centre, Hadleigh. The performace was followed by an interactive workshop to allow the young people to respond to the play.
