The Right Moves CD…
The Right Moves is a partnership project with DanceEast which helps people keep active in a unique, fun and informative way.
The poster demonstrates a series of dance exercises using household items and it can be used either at home or in groups. A CD containing step by step instructions for the exercise programme has now been produced. The audio version is accompanied by memories of household items from the past.
A team of reminiscence workers, a physiotherapist, dance artists, a voice over actor and the Top Time group from Stowmarket Library was involved in the project which will allow more people to access The Right Moves programme and to share their memories.
Artlink is training community groups and their leaders in how to use The Right Moves CD.
"Enjoy it…You don’t even realise you are exercising…I am enjoying it… I
thoroughly enjoyed it .”
"Good idea…Up for anything that get me out…Come again next week…Hope to see you soon.”

Culture Club Tours
An interactive tour of Indian dance to four community venues around the county will provide a high quality professional performance and workshop to sheltered housing scheme residents, library users, day service users, local residents and school children.
Pack Up and Tour
A menu of creative activities including art and craft, photography, creative writing, dance, drama, music and singing. Groups will be able to choose from the menu to access a series of four sessions and a visit to a cultural venue such as a museum or gallery or an outing to an event.
Three of the sessions will be artist-led, the additional session will be led by Suffolk Artlink’s project officer, and will facilitate and support the groups to plan further independent activity. A contribution payment from the groups will be collected and used as a budget to kick-off their new activities.
The Art of Play
An intergenerational creative reminiscence project, offering an exciting way of building new links within communities and leaving a legacy of people with new skills and confidence to continue working together in the future to benefit their local communities.
Each ’Art of Play’ project will begin with training in using reminiscence for group leaders from both organisations and in collecting memories for the younger people. There will then be a series of intergenerational reminiscence sessions for both groups to attend. All of this work will be facilitated by a professional reminiscence worker. Material from the sessions will be collated into a publication.
The group leaders will work with Artlink’s Project Officer to plan an artist-led creative project for both groups using the reminiscence material, culminating in a community event (an exhibition / reading event / performance / screening).
The Art of Play will work in partnership with organisations to locate participants and to use resources and facilities based within local communities to enhance the projects, such as: local and regional museum services, arts and cultural organisations such as theatres or galleries, libraries, local special interest groups etc.
Felixstowe Theatre Group
A partnership with The Wolsey Theatre providing professional drama practitioner to lead monthly sessions in Felixstowe Library. This year will focus on supporting and enabling the group to develop their plans for future project work.
At Home Library Service reading groups
A partnership with Suffolk County Council’s At Home Library Service, transport is provided to home library service users to bring into Bury St Edmunds, Ipswich and Lowestoft Libraries for monthly sessions. We will target these groups for Pack Up and Tour, as well as developing links between the groups and other arts and cultural organisations to build upon past project work.
