For people with learning disabilities interested in working
in the creative sector.
The Open Doors programme offers people with learning disabilities
taster days and short courses for those possibly interested
in working in the creative sector.
In addition to the tasters and short courses, the more formal
30 day course based in Ipswich offers training and work experience
with a range of creative sector organisations. The aims of the
course which starts in September each year are either to facilitate
freelance or part time job opportunities for people with learning
disabilities within the sector or to inspire and sign post further
study.
Admission to the 30 day course is by interview, ideally following
attendance at a taster day or a short course.
Places on the 30 day course for 2008 have now been allocated.
Places are available for the 30 day course starting in September
2009.
Anyone wanting to register an interest in attending any of the
Open Doors courses or taster days should contact enquiries@suffolkartlink or ring 01986 873955.
Open Doors also offers learning difficulty awareness training to
partner organisations and has started to create a legacy
of awareness of learning disability issues with a range of creative
sector organisations.
