For people with learning disabilities interested in working
in the creative sector.
The Open Doors programme offers people with learning disabilities
taster days and short courses for those possibly interested
in working in the creative sector.
In addition to the tasters and short courses, the more formal
30 day course based in Ipswich offers training and work experience
with a range of creative sector organisations. The aims of the
course which starts in September each year are either to facilitate
freelance or part time job opportunities for people with learning
disabilities within the sector or to inspire and sign post further
study.
The 30 day course is in its last year in Ipswich, after which Open Doors will come to an end. We hope to launch an Open Doors Job Club in Ipswich to keep ex-students and other people with learning disabilities interested in working in the arts in touch with the latest information and opportunities.

But that isn’t the end of the story, soon we will be launching our new project called JumpstART!, a modular arts course based in Bury St Edmunds, with developmental work also starting in Lowestoft.
Work on JumpstART! begins this year, with short courses in the spring and a 10 week part-time course starting in September. The courses will be based at the United Reform Church in central Bury St Edmunds .
Anyone wanting to register an interest in attending JumpstART! should contact enquiries@suffolkartlink or ring 01986 873955.
