Suffolk Artlink is working in partnership with Suffolk Family Carers to run creative workshops for young carers and the family member they care for.
Suffolk Artlink and Suffolk Family Carers have run creative workshops for young carers and the family member they care for. Six sessions were delivered to give the group the opportunity to try a variety of activities such as animation, african drumming, painting, clay work and creative writing.
With the help of support staff the workshops aim was to take away the roles of carer and cared-for allowing the participants to enjoy a shared creative experience. The project also aimed to encourage and assist them to try similar activities at home together.
Artlink hoped that the project would help to provide an environment in which the carer and cared for can meet people in a similar situation as themselves and to help provide them with a social support group.
Suffolk Artlink recieved very positive feedback from the pilot project and are looking to expand and roll out the project to more young carers and cared for in Suffolk.
