By exploring food, creativity and culture in regular workshops, we will give adult family carers an opportunity to gain respite from their caring role, develop new support systems and build their confidence.
The first workshop will take place in Lowestoft in November this year, and will be followed next year by a series of 14 further workshops, held approximately monthly. Workshops will be led by a rich variety of experienced chefs, food-led practitioners and artists.
Project Officer, Carrie Phoenix, says: “Arts, food and creativity are universal, and make great tools to help people explore and adapt to the transitions that occur in the lives of adult family carers.
“We are really looking forward to welcoming people to enjoy a bit of time away from their caring role each month and hope that it leaves them with a renewed sense of passion and achievement in their daily lives.”
All workshops are free of charge, no experience is necessary and reasonable travel costs can also be provided.
Participants are welcome to attend as many or as few of the workshops as they are able.
The long-term aim of Around the Table is to work together towards a carer-led initiative which continues beyond the project’s lifetime.
