It’s just two weeks until we hang our Suffolk Open Studios exhibition at La Tour Cycle Café on Ipswich’s Waterfront!
From Thursday 6th June until the end of the month, we’re showing a variety of joyful, inspiring and moving mixed media works created by our participants and students, including family carers, school pupils, care home residents and adults with learning disabilities.
Colourful and diverse works will be on show from projects that have explored the human body, food and celebrations, protest arts, storytelling and Lowestoft folk heritage to name a few! Works will include prints, textiles and paintings.
You can head along to La Tour Cycle Café for a cuppa and a browse every day of the week, from 10am – 4pm, and into the evening on Wednesdays.
We’ll also be holding free drop-in arts activities at the café on Wednesday 12th June, 11am – 3pm, in celebration of Creativity and Wellbeing week.
Suffolk Open Studios celebrates the county’s thriving artistic community with participating artists opening their studios to the public at weekends, giving visitors a unique opportunity to take a look “behind the scenes” and see them in action.
For 2019, the programme runs over the 5 weekends in June, commencing Saturday 1st June. Over 100 artists and galleries are taking part, showing work across a wide range of media covering every aspect of art today, including painting, ceramics, glassware, pottery, sculpture and more.
Don’t forget to pick up a brochure in a nearby shop, gallery or café to plan your own artistic adventure.
This year we are, once again, being generously supported by Suffolk Open Studios, who have already raised money towards our work by holding a prize draw of artworks donated by their participating artists during their annual showcase exhibition earlier this year.
A huge thank you goes to Suffolk Open Studios for their support – we’re looking forward to being part of their wonderful initiative again this year.
