Lowestoft Folk – Call out for Artists
We are inviting artists to register their interest in our new intergenerational folk arts project based in Lowestoft.
The project, called Lowestoft Folk, will work with primary school children and residents from local care homes / sheltered housing schemes to explore artefacts and their stories from Lowestoft and Lowestoft Maritime Museums. Folk items in the museum collections include quilts, porcelain, paintings, dolls houses, scale model boats, ship figureheads and sea shanties. Participants will also share their memories and experience of folk traditions and create contemporary folk art of their own which will be used as new interpretive material for the museums.
We wish to engage a team of artists working across a range of art forms to provide a programme of creative sessions, deliver training to museum volunteers and run public workshops and storytelling events.
Lowestoft Folk begins in January 2018 and runs until September 2019. If you are interested in being involved, please write, in no more than 200 words, what it is that interests you about Lowestoft Folk and what you think you might bring to the project.
Expressions of interest should be sent to Candida Wingate at email@example.com to arrive no later than midday on Monday, 6th November.
