It was wonderful to see so many families and friends gathered at Broadlands Residential Care Home last week, when we celebrated all the beautiful work created by residents and pupils from Oulton Broad Primary School during the course of Lowestoft Folk.
- Writer Lynn Whitehead working with a Broadland’s resident
- Cultural Learning Officer, Phoebe Wingate, enjoying tea and peg dolls with a resident
- Care worker Lee, together with resident and student, creating peg dolls
There was a special Lowestoft Folk Tale, much singing – and a great many peg dolls created. Oh yes, and a whole lot of cake and biscuits got eaten – so a grand time was had by all.
Huge thanks to staff at Broadlands, for making us all so welcome, and to Oulton Broad Primary School, for all their support and enthusiasm.
Today, I’m off to see students at Pakefield Primary School, who will be joining residents at Hildesley Court Sheltered Housing Unit for the second iteration of Lowestoft Folk, starting in September.
Until then, we will be running public workshops and story telling events at Lowestoft Festival and as part of the national Heritage Open Days in early September. Watch this space for more news.
