Last week, the students from Pakefield Primary school came along to Hildesley Court Sheltered Housing Unit, to meet the residents taking part in Lowestoft Folk.
The session started with a story, created and told by Lynn Whitehead, that involved lots of singing and working out of clues, as the principle characters explored Lowestoft Museum, in search of the Point of Lowestoft.
After that, the children got to work removing the tape from their bags and revealing the beautiful patterns underneath. They were delighted with the outcome – as one child remarked “It’s like unwrapping a Christmas present”.
And finally, the children got out the fortune tellers they’d made the previous week and used them to ask the residents all sorts of questions about things they collected when they were young, museums they’d visited and the meaning of phrases like ‘a stitch in time.’
It was a lovely session, with much laughter and we can’t wait to go back again this week.
