Not quite the last post for Special Delivery

In the last three months, we have listened to brand new stories, created poems and self portraits, drawn to music, made unique envelopes, aged paper in trays of cold tea and crafted greetings cards decorated with images of ‘small things’ – all inspired by the Dunkirk Letters.

The children have shared that work with the Act Your Age group at the Theatre Royal, who in turn wrote and recorded monologues based on some of the characters mentioned in those letters.

We have found out some amazing facts about the Suffolk Record Office and their archives, and talked about what heritage means to us all; we’ve also made a lot of new friends and discovered that there are lots of different ways to enjoy finding out about our heritage.

This afternoon, we held the final Zoom Special Delivery session with Abbots Green Academy, but it’s not the end, as the children intend to hold a school assembly, to tell their friends about what they’ve been doing – and we hope that we may be able to visit, in person, sometime next year. There is also the chance that we might all be able to visit the Record Office together.
