“This sort of dance is very unusual, it’s not something I’ve seen before but it was beautiful.”
“Thank you for coming, you have brought us so much joy, a wonderful morning.”
Funded by the Arts Council ‘interact’ was a project for older people living with dementia.
Suffolk Artlink commissioned Glass House Dance Company to create an interactive dance piece designed specifically for people living with dementia. The dance artists underwent high quality experiential dementia training to gain an insight into the sensory experience of people with dementia in order to provide an engaging and stimulating experience which is accessible to all.
The dance piece ‘A little bit of light’ tells the story of two girls in an attic discovering hidden treasures and finding light in the darkness. Suffolk Artlink and Glass House toured to 7 community venues in Suffolk including, care settings, day services, hospital and community settings.
The project has given the opportunity for research and development of the piece for future performances.
