What is Talking Care:
During this collaboration with Suffolk County Council, we encouraged a group of family carers to use art and creativity to explore and share their experiences of caring. This helped to create resources that now provide support to other family carers in Suffolk.
The project consisted of 14 creative workshops run by artists for a group of carers. Taking part in our Talking Care sessions allowed participants to find a new way to share their stories of being a family carer through arts activities including creative writing, visual arts and photography.
Our carers’ stories were documented by a writer, visual artist, and two filmmakers. The resulting film and booklet are now used by Council staff who carry out Carer’s Assessments and have been made available to other carers in Suffolk through the Council website.
Who was Talking Care for:
Adult family carers across Suffolk.
When & Where did Talking Care happen:
The project ran throughout 2016. The resources created continue to be available on Suffolk County Council’s website.
