We love exploring new ways of using art and creativity to bring change to people’s lives. Which is why we are thrilled to mark the start of Our Place, our new project with nursing and residential care providers, The Partnership in Care.
Together, we are piloting a new approach which will bring the arts and creativity into nursing and residential care settings to improve health and well-being for everyone.
Starting this month, our team of inspirational artists will be in residence in six care homes across Suffolk. They’ll each be putting staff, residents and their families at the heart of designing and delivering a more creative and cultural environment.
Our artists have already carried out workshops with each home to explore how staff, residents and their families would like to use creativity to bring positive changes to their home. The summer residencies see our artists returning for six-week residencies to work collaboratively with the homes to bring these changes to life.
Artists will work in a variety of spaces throughout the homes such as the gardens, bedrooms, bathrooms, as well as communal lounge spaces. They will focus on various aspects of the care home environment, including, sensory engagement, care at night, one-to-one engagement with residents, transforming how spaces are used and connecting homes with their communities.
We are excited to see how the residencies unfold and look forward to sharing more about them soon.
