Our Coppice Court Rock On band have played their first public gig – and they were totally fantastic.
They performed at the Seagull Theatre as part of a Christmas show organised by Graeme Syed and Lee Johnson and to an audience of more than 100 people.
Of course, there were the pre-performance jitters, but when those children came off stage their faces said it all – they glowed with pride and excitement … and immediately wanted to go back out and do it all over again.
And that’s what we’ll be working on next term – more songs, more performances – and more excited, happy young people who feel ‘awesome’ and ‘proud’ and ‘pleased’ with what they’ve achieved.
“It was shocking – the amount of applause we got,” said Logan. “I thought, because we were doing one song, we’d only get a small bit [of applause] but it was so big – it was fantastic.”
Before we sign off for 2018, I’d like to say a huge thank you to all our wonderful Rock On tutors – DJs Sophie aka Tallulah Goodtimes and Marco Spina who have been working in Leiston and Matt, who has tutored at Coppice Court; they’ve been brilliant, tireless in their support and inspirational to work with: thank you all.
Merry Rock On Christmas, everyone, and see you in January 2019.
