It’s been a really busy few weeks for Rock On, with sessions in Felixstowe, Leiston, Saxmundham and two venues in Lowestoft.
In Felixstowe, we’ve just completed a 6-week mini project, in which DJ and singer/ songwriter Sophie Tott introduced young adult residents at the Foyer to the joys of mixing their favourite tunes. She also worked with two young women, both very talented singers, to help them develop vocal skills; it was all great fun – and even the youth workers had a go.
Continuing with the DJ-ing, but this time with Marco Spina, there have been regular sessions at CYDS youth club in Leiston and also at the Saxmundham Youth Booth, where several young people took part, sharing their DJ skills and showing one another how to make a mix.
In Lowestoft, our regular sessions at Coppice Court housing unit continue, and there’s much excitement as the young people prepare for the Coppice Court Has Talent Show later next month.
And still in Lowestoft, we ran two taster sessions at the Haven Court housing unit for young parents, where much fun was had with bubbles and ukuleles.
Plans for next term include a series of DJ sessions in youth clubs around the Woodbridge area – a new gig for Rock On, and one that we’re really looking forward to playing.
