Brave Art Spring Term Bury St Edmunds
Brave Art is an arts training course for adults with learning disabilities, Brave Art offers students the chance to enjoy exploring a variety of art forms whilst developing creative and life skills.
Students work alongside professional artists. Through professional artist-led sessions students learn new skills and gain confidence, friendships and wellbeing.
Courses take place weekly with a half term break, in Bury St Edmunds, Lowestoft and Ipswich and include advice and guidance on how to progress on to volunteering, work experience and further training.
The spring half term break is on 20th February.
Our experienced Project Officer Charlie Meyer will, as usual, create a safe and welcoming space where everyone can be creative and make new friends. Also supporting students will be our equally experienced Project officer Siobhan Johnson.
Our 10 creative sessions are led by talented artist Shelly O’Brien: “Hi Brave Artists, My name is Shelly. I have been a creative arts facilitator for over 10 years and a Special Educational Needs tutor for 15 years. I love working in a creative way to help people develop, thrive and have fun. Working with textiles is my favourite thing as I love the different colours, patterns and feel of the fabrics. I enjoy the process of creating and sometimes just seeing where that leads. I enjoy oil pastels, charcoal, painting and sketching; especially drawing people. Most important to me is having time and space to be playful and creative in whatever way I fancy. I like the performance element of being creative too, whether that’s sharing your work in film or in a show or exhibition or festival.”
