Last night was the last Rock On music session at Coppice Court in Lowestoft before we all break for the summer, and whilst the drums beat and the guitars wailed, it was the quiet moments that really rocked us.
Like the one pictured here, with a young participant showing another lad how to play a certain chord. Or the moment when a child came and asked, in a whisper, “Can I go and get my mum, I want to show her what I can do on the keyboard.”
The mum came and listened, and others came too. So delighted was one mum that she filmed her son playing a bass guitar riff so that she could ‘share it with her friends’.
Sharing music at Coppice Court is such a delight. Last night there were eight children involved in the session, with at least four mothers sitting in and watching their children play; one of the mothers sat with her 10 week old baby on her lap, gently rocking her to sleep as one of the children picked out Twinkle Twinkle on the keyboard.
We’ll be back in September to share more music – til then our thanks to everyone at Coppice Court for welcoming us into their home and especially to Lee, for all his help and support.
