We are delighted to be launching a unique new professional development programme for visual artists. We are able to do this thanks to funding from the Arts Council, Suffolk Community Foundation and Leading Lives.
Step Up is a pilot project which explores a sustainable approach to providing inclusive professional development opportunities to visual artists in Suffolk, including artists with learning disabilities. Learning disabled artists will be paired with non-learning disabled artists to take part in a year-long programme of practice sharing and skills workshops which will include an opportunity to showcase their work through an exhibition at the Jerwood DanceHouse.
The new project stems from JumpstART which is our existing arts programme for learning disabled artists
Hayley Field, Suffolk Artlink Co-Director, said: “We are committed to supporting the artistic development of our talented learning disabled participants, as well as the development of visual artists working in Suffolk.
“This is a unique opportunity for visual artists to build their own practice through an inspiring new collaboration.
“The programme acknowledges the equal and complementary nature of the value each partner can bring to the other through sharing their practice.”
We will be recruiting visual artists to the programme later this summer. If you would like to register an interest please contact Hayley Field at firstname.lastname@example.org or 01986 873955.
