Little Beats
Improving wellbeing, child development and musical engagement amongst pre-school children in partnership with Suffolk Libraries, Magic Acorns, Lowestoft Rising and Britten Pears Arts.
Introduction
Little Beats is back! Over the next 3 years we will be working in Lowestoft. Our aim is to create a place based network of early years music providers, facilitators and musicians.
The initial project began in 2021, following a further pilot in 2022. Little Beats will be running up until 2026 thanks to Youth Music.
Throughout the programme will work with locally established and emerging musicians. Our musicians will work to develop and deliver musical activities to 0-5’s and their families. We aim to improve wellbeing, child development and musical engagement for preschool children by developing the skills of selected musicians and early years facilitators
We will host early years networking sessions, masterclasses and mentoring opportunities. These sessions will be delivered by professionals, artists and academics. Shared knowledge, skills and experience will develop our facilitators personal practice and creativity. This sharing will provide a resource to deliver quality musical activities in Lowestoft for pre-school children and their families.
Coming up we have two, incredible, free, CPD events for musicians and early years practitioners working in Lowestoft.
On 20th November 2023, Magic Acorns will explore listening as a key quality to our work with very young children and families, through playful activities and games.
On 4th December 2023 we have Prof Nathan Holder, the award-winning author, international speaker, musician and education consultant. This session will focus on inclusive and diverse music education.
