Extra Time at the Heritage Open Days
Heritage Open Days is a nationwide festival of history and culture, and offers free access to hundreds of historical sites.
Extra Time was delighted to take part, both at Leiston Long Shop Museum and as part of the Heritage Skills event at the Triangle Market in Lowestoft.
At the Long Shop, we opened the Extra Time exhibition, featuring work made by the Leiston participants over the past few months. These included the plaster sporting shield, pewter casts, life-sized footballers and cyanotypes. The exhibition runs until Sunday, 21st September.
Jo was on hand to run a clay workshop, and a beautiful array of commemorative medals was ‘struck’, celebrating friendship, favourite football teams and world peace. I achieved a personal best in having a poodle participate – that’s a first for me.
In Lowestoft, Kate displayed the magnificent Extra Time banner and invited the public to try out their knitting skills on a pair of giant knitting needles and weave their hopes and goals on a table top loom.
‘This has been a lovely way to spend an afternoon - I've often passed here, but never come in, so I'm really glad that I did today.’
