Jennifer Gardiner

Jenny is naturally driven by drawing, often filling pages of her sketchbook at home with expressive marks detailing her home-life. Exploding with colour, the sketches of her garden, her cat Lucy, her friends and holidays evoke a powerful intensity of emotion.

In recent years, she has experimented with abstract collage, producing radiant compositions reminiscent of stained-glass windows. A skilled needlewoman, she has also been drawn to embroidery, using thread to recreate her quick marks on fabric before adding paint and beads. Jenny moves between these slower, more meditative mediums and her inherent love of rapid mark-making, and is interested in creating larger, more complex textile pieces in the future. (Eleanor Rodwell)
