“I get my ideas from looking at people around me, my family, characters from the TV, film and from politicians”

“I love drawing – it keeps me busy and it’s a nice way to forget about things.  It’s relaxing. I draw people mainly but also the houses they live in. I like to draw using just pencil, black pen and paper – and coloured pens.  I always start with the heads of people first – I do lots of lines on their faces so they begin to look a bit scary.  I love zombies. I also like using a ruler to get straight shoulders and bodies – it’s my style. I like to explore doing some other artwork – I did some printing using my hands but usually I just prefer using my pen and paper!”

Erik is a prolific artist with a unique illustrative style and a great sense of humour. He focuses on characterisation and the macabre, making zombie versions of prominent political figures. He works with plots developed from existing stories (such as The Witches and Willy Wonka) to build his own tales, creating details such as buildings, props and characters.
