Lucy Coleman
“I love colour, it makes me very happy!”
“I like to draw the Royal Family – especially the King, he is a nice man and goes and visits lot of people. I like to draw people’s faces and all sorts of different things. I like using paint pens – I love the bright colours – I also use collage with tissue paper as it gives lots of different effects. I like the vase I made out of papier mâché, I used tissue paper and made drawings to go on it and words of a story I made up about a fireman and a mermaid. It has buttons you press and it tells the story out loud. I got the idea from Grayson Perry and the vases he makes.”
Lucy’s work always has a fun, playful and exciting element. She draws daily but when planning bigger projects she loves to work with tactile materials such as fabrics, tissue paper and papier mâché. In the future Lucy would like to expand her ideas creating other objects in clay and ceramics.
