Special Delivery Exhibition opens at Suffolk Archives, Lowestoft

Featuring work by pupils from Pakefield, Oulton Broad and Roman Hill Primary schools and residents at Hildesley Court, Broadlands Care Home and Britten Court Care Home, the latest Special Delivery exhibition has just opened at Suffolk Archives and will run throughout the summer.

From examples of pigeon post and message stones, to poems about Marvellous Collections and drawings of blancmange, the exhibition shares some of the amazing and imaginative ways in which the different generations explored the art of communication together and created some very special deliveries of their own.

Visitors can even listen to a song made by children at Roman Hill and appropriately named ‘Dear Friend I’ve Never Met Before’.

On Tuesday, 9th August in the Britten Room beside the Suffolk Archive offices, we’ll be running a day-long Special Delivery workshop, in which you can create your own unique postcard using vintage documents from the Archives and other materials. Family-friendly, free to attend, just come along between 10am and 4pm.
