I’m thrilled to announce that Halesworth and District Museum won the Suffolk Museums Object of the Year Award 2022 with the Blythburgh Iron Age coin chosen by Freya, a pupil at the Edgar Sewter primary school.
Freya chose the coin when she visited the Museum as part of the Special Delivery project.
The children were asked to recommend objects they thought the Beech House residents would like to look at and Freya chose the coin because it had a ‘monkey face’.
With almost 50% of the popular vote in favour of the coin, it was a runaway winner on the night – and the excitement didn’t stop there.
The Museum also received the Working with Young People Award, as a direct result of their involvement in Special Delivery.
Congratulations to all concerned, it was lovely working with the Museum staff and volunteers and everyone at the school and Beech House; I look forward to working with you all again in the future.
