With thanks to National Lottery players

The Extra Time season is drawing to a close and we’re celebrating the amazing achievements and beautiful artwork created by the Extra Time players over the past 28 months.

The Extra Time Exhibition is on at The Hold (home to Suffolk Archives) in Ipswich throughout December; it’s open from 10am to 5pm each day except Sunday and the last viewing day will be Saturday, 3rd January 2026. Please check details via the link above, as times may alter slightly over Christmas and New Year.

On display is the Extra Time Football banner, adorned with embroidered images made by pupils from Roman Hill, Pakefield and Kessingland Primary Schools, alongside residents at Britten Court Care Home, Hildesley Court and Manor Farm Care Home, Lowestoft.

In Halesworth, pupils at the Edgar Sewter Primary School and residents at Beech House Care Home created unique sporting trophies to present to the local Museum; along with source material for the trophies, the exhibition features a link for visitors to listen to the Beech House Trophy Cabinet poem.

There’s the magnificent sporting shield and pewter plaques made by pupils at Leiston Primary School and members of the Curious Minds Legacy Group Saxmundham, as well as individual clay models of some of the players featured in photographs from the Long Shop Museum, Leiston.

There’s the Story Box and Souvenir Programmes, faces from the Extra Time Supporters Club and football figures, as well as the Archive All-Stars.

So, yes indeed; thanks to National Lottery players and the National Lottery Heritage Fund and thanks also to Lowestoft Rising and the Association for Suffolk Museums, for funding the Extra Time project.

And thank you to our partners, Suffolk Archives, and to John at Chronicle Digital Storytelling for creating the Extra Time Footballing Story Boxes and Alex at Creative Nation for producing the beautiful film about the project.

And many, many thanks to all the wonderful artists and other creatives who have blown whistles, waved flags, handed around the orange slices at half time and helped keep score along the way.

But, most of all, thanks to everyone who joined in the game and played for Extra Time …

You’re the Champions.
