Making Creative Connections

You are here: Home / Projects / Around The Table

Around The Table

What is Around the Table:

The Around the Table project aims to explore food, creativity and culture in regular workshops, to offer adult carers a moment of respite from their caring role. The workshops will enable carers to develop new support systems, build their confidence and enjoy a new sense of passion and achievement in their daily lives.

All workshops are free of charge, no experience is necessary and reasonable travel costs can also be provided.

Participants are welcome to attend as many or as few of the two and a half hour workshops as they are able. These workshops will run approximately monthly.

Who is Around the Table for:

Adult family carers caring for an adult

When & Where is Around the Table happening:

Regular workshops take place in Lowestoft and Claydon. All workshops are free, but booking is essential.

Click here to view the workshop timetable.

If you can’t make the sessions, our project blog is open to all adult family carers interested in learning more about food, art and culture. Useful and interesting content from the project will be shared, but it’s also a place that others can get involved by sharing their ideas and asking questions. Contributions are welcomed from all!

Venue accessibility: level wheelchair access with manual doors, lift, accessible toilets, sessions are on the ground floor, parking on site. More information on the accessibility can be found on AccessAble’s page for Unit 9, Suffolk Family Carers Hub Cafe

Around the Table participants with their freshly-baked loaves, sporting photographs of themselves – how cool is that! The group met at the Kirkley Centre in Lowestoft where, under the guidance of professional food photographer, Jemma Watts, they learnt some great tips for taking portrait photos. This was followed by a bread making session with baker […]

On Thursday 16th November we were lucky enough to have Chef Sam Hanison and artist Kasia Posen running our first Around the Table workshop, focusing on the preservation of food and how it can be used for far more than extending the longevity of produce.
