Brave Art Autumn Programme Bury St Edmunds

Brave Art Unimited is a programme for learning disabled and neurodivergent people to access high quality creative opportunities. Through a series of artist-led sessions in three locations we provide inspiration and support for people to express themselves through visual arts, bringing the social and wellbeing benefits of being creative together.

Each day-long session starts with a group activity, skill sharing or discussion, before people are invited to develop and work on a personal project. Participants are encouraged and supported to explore their interests and develop their own creative voice through a range of materials, techniques and creative prompts.

Courses are based in community spaces in Bury St Edmunds, Ipswich and Lowestoft.

Our experienced Project Officer Charlie Meyer will, as usual, create a safe and welcoming space where everyone can be creative and make new friends.

Brave Art Unlimited is supported using public funding by the National Lottery through Arts Council England.

Our 8 creative sessions are led by talented artist Shelly O’Brien: “Hi Brave Artists, My name is Shelly. I have been a creative arts facilitator for over 10 years and a Special Educational Needs tutor for 15 years. I love working in a creative way to help people develop, thrive and have fun. Working with textiles is my favourite thing as I love the different colours, patterns and feel of the fabrics. I enjoy the process of creating and sometimes just seeing where that leads. I enjoy oil pastels, charcoal, painting and sketching; especially drawing people. Most important to me is having time and space to be playful and creative in whatever way I fancy. I like the performance element of being creative too, whether that’s sharing your work in film or in a show or exhibition or festival.”
