Brave Art Unlimited
Our weekly arts course for adults with learning disabilities.
Introduction

Brave Art Unlimited is a programme for learning disabled and neurodivergent people to access high quality creative opportunities. Through a series of artist-led sessions in three locations we provide inspiration and support for people to express themselves through visual arts, bringing the social and wellbeing benefits of being creative together.
Each session starts with a group activity, skill sharing or discussion, before people are invited to develop and work on a personal project. Participants are encouraged and supported to explore their interests and develop their own creative voice through a range of materials, techniques and creative prompts.
Courses are based in community spaces in Bury St Edmunds, Ipswich and Lowestoft.
Our sessions are managed and supported by our brilliant programme leads, Charlie Meyer and Fran Speight. Charlie and Fran have led the programme for 12 years and are experienced empowering learning disabled adults and creating a safe environment for participants to excel and flourish. Session are supported by professional artists Shelly O’Brien, Johann Don-Daniel and Eleanor Rodwell.
As part of the 2026 anniversary year, which marks 250 years since the birth of iconic Suffolk-born artist John Constable (1776-1837), Constable’s Legacy will be honoured through a yearlong programme of exhibitions at Ipswich Borough Council’s Christchurch Mansion which inspire community events and learning programmes. These varied community collaborations will explore Constable’s art and impact sparking connections between art and the natural world for audiences across the county.
This term we will be exploring the work of John Constable, an artist who featured the landscapes and people of Suffolk in many of his paintings. This is part of Constable’s 250th anniversary led by Colchester and Ipswich Museums. Finished work will form part of an exhibition at Christchurch Mansion in the autumn 2026.
Brave Art Constable 250 is made possible with The National Lottery Heritage Fund. Thanks to National Lottery players, we have been able to partner with Colchester & Ipswich Museums on Constable 250.
