Constable to Contemporary Exhibition (Part of Constable 250)

Constable to Contemporary

24 October 2026 – 28 February 2027

The final exhibition of the year-long celebration of John Constable and his work will highlight the artistic and cultural relevancy of Constable’s art through a variety of contemporary and community responses.

Featuring work produced over the anniversary year through varied engagement opportunities including Constable 250 community partners and participating schools, the exhibition will offer a final moment of celebration and reflection for the anniversary year.

Artists from Suffolk Artlink’s Brave Art programme invite you to see the world anew through new works that are not just tributes but conversations across time — between 19th-century skies and modern-day soil, between brush and pixel, between reverence and rebellion. We hope the work will inspire you to look closer, feel deeper, and celebrate the quiet power of place.

Community Hub Ipswich (CHIp) will develop a youth led immersive artwork bringing to life the essence of ‘Constable Country’ through the senses.

Exhibition organised in partnership with and hosted by Colchester and Ipswich Museums as part of their Constable 250 Exhibitions.
